The National Restaurant Association is experiencing multiple benefits leveraging the single sign-on solution from Ping Identity, the leader in Identity Defined Security. Not only has the foodservice trade group seen an increase in employee productivity, but it also has achieved a reduction in the burden placed on its support team. These positive returns have helped the organization place more focus on providing gold-standard services to its global members.
The National Restaurant Association (NRA) supports more than 500,000 restaurant businesses around the globe. Member benefits include gaining access to a comprehensive set of tools, systems and applications that help organizations secure significantly better operating results. However, accessing a myriad of applications wasn’t always seamless. It meant that employees and customers were required to memorize multiple usernames and passwords.
As a result, the organization experienced a spike in help desk calls, and the lack of fast access hindered efficiency. Because some of the applications are SaaS-based, there also was an added security risk. The apps didn’t have proper provisioning and deprovisioning in place. Unfortunately, employees could access applications even after leaving the company.
With this in mind, the National Restaurant Association implemented PingFederate to extend single sign-on functionality to users across internal and external domains. The organization is now leveraging the benefits of authentication, authorization and a secure transmission of user credentials within the perimeter. Since the deployment of PingFederate, NRA’s support team is seeing fewer requests for password resets. This is in addition to its ability to easily remove access for employees who have left the organization—creating a more secure and productive environment for all.
“When compared to competitive solutions, PingFederate simply stood out as the most comprehensive and flexible solution,” commented Narendar Sundaram, chief architect, National Restaurant Association. “The other thing that stood out is the ease with which we could implement the Ping solution, as most of our requirements were met right out of the box.”
